Brazil's Samsung Galaxy S Sports a TV Tuner
According to TechnoBlog, Samsung's Galaxy S variant headed for Brazil has an interesting addition previously unseen in the Galaxy S line: a TV tuner with an extendable antenna. EuroDroid notes that they "haven’t seen one of those for years. Apart from the TV tuner and car aerial, the Brazilian Galaxy S is the same as ours, technically speaking."
TalkAndroid wonders about the reasoning for including an antenna on the Brazilian model:
Is it because the networks there cannot keep up with the speeds needed to stream video? Too bad there are not versions like this for other countries. I would love to see one in the U.S. with the ability to receive digital TV signals.
According to SamsungHub, the Brazilian Samsung Galaxy S will come preinstalled with an ISDB-Tb Digital TV tuner and sell for BRL2,399, which comes to $1,367.
A commentor on Phandroid proposes that Brazil's variant might be the same as the variant headed to Japan. Head over to TechnoBlog for more images of the handset.
