Google Pixel 7 Pro: Release date and price
The Google Pixel 7 Pro was announced at Google's Made by Google event on October 6, 2022. It is now available in the U.S. for $899. All countries where Pixel is available can be found here—and in 2022 the Pixel series will also be available in Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden for the first time.
It is not too far away from the $1,000 mark that many flagships have touched and/or surpassed, clearly making this a souped-up mid-range flagship—if there is ever such a thing. In fact, it straddles no man's land between the mid-range and flagship territories.
Colors & Design: This is what the Pixel 7 Pro looks like
The Google Pixel 7 Pro looks virtually the same as its less capable sibling, the Pixel 7. Very little separates them visually, sporting a similar albeit improved design language from its previous generation. You will find a slightly raised matte aluminum band behind that houses the cameras, accompanied by a glass back with eye-catching colors such as Hazel, Obsidian, and Snow to choose from.

Google Pixel 7 Pro: Technical specifications
The Pixel 7 Pro is powered by the next-gen Google Tensor G2 processor. You can expect it to deliver more helpful and personalized features when it concerns photos, videos, security, and speech recognition. Google also worked on a deeper level of integration with the Google ecosystem, bringing together Pixel smartphones, earbuds, and watches. Is this straying down the path that the likes of Samsung and Apple are doing?
The Pixel 7 Pro features a 6.7-inch QHD+ resolution display and a 120Hz refresh rate. It's accompanied by a 48 MP telephoto lens, a 12 MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 10.8 MP selfie camera and 4K video recording capability. The camera boasts Macro Focus, something the Pixel 7 misses out on. The G2 SoC is mated to 12 GB of RAM and you will have a choice of either 128 GB or 256 GB of storage space.
Wireless charging is supported as well, and it is also IP68-certified, making it safe to bring with you on your beach or swimming pool outings. Assuming the Google Pixel 7 Pro follows the Pixel 6 Pro's update schedule, it will receive up to three years of major Android updates and five years of security updates. This means having launched with Android 13, it should receive Android 16 which is tipped to arrive in 2025.
Should I buy it?
If you already own the Google Pixel 6 Pro, then there is very little incentive for you to make the jump unless you are curious as to how much more performance and efficiency can the Tensor G2 processor eke out. Those who are currently using flagship phones from other manufacturers would want to give the Pixel 7 Pro a miss, simply because it is still a mid-range handset when you strip it down.
The Pixel 7 Pro comes highly recommended for those who are invested in the Pixel ecosystem and are currently riding out the final throes of their Pixel 3 or 3a simply because those smartphones will no longer receive Android or security updates.
