Mount mac drive via wifi

How do I mount a drive on mac mini running el capitan to my nexus? I can connect via sftp but can't make a lan network. When I use Samba Player and try to login I get "Protected Folder" message. I can login using another mac without any problems and am confident I have all the settings right on my mac. I have rooted the Nexus but can't work out how o get a wifi network happening.
