Google Nexus 4 — Can't receive texts sent to multiple recipients

I'm not a power user and still am happy with my Nexus 4. I have no problems sending or receiving text messages, however, when friends sent out messages to more than one, I don't receive the text. I am using the texting app which came with the phone. Any ideas on a fix?
