Have you switched from iPhone to Android? Share your story
Leading up to the holiday season, many are thinking about buying a new smartphone. These users will be faced with the perennial question of whether to choose iPhone or Android. There are many reasons to make the switch (practical, financial and so on). As such, we're collecting stories from users who have switched from team Apple to team Android.
In real life and on the internet, the Android vs iOS battle rages on. The perspectives on the issue are diverse. If Apple was the king at the beginning of the smartphone era thanks to the iPhone, it's suffered since thanks to the rise of Android. iOS is no longer the undisputed champion, and Google's mobile OS has surpassed it in many ways, including number of users.
If you've abandoned the iPhone and taken up an Android smartphone, we want to hear your story. Why did you make the decision? Are you happy with the choice? Once we've heard from the AndroidPIT community, we will feature a selection of these stories in a future article.
Please tell us your story in the comments below. Thanks in advance! We look forward to reading your responses.
I had an iPhone 7 for work and I finally worked up the nerve to ask my boss for an Android. 98% of our 200 corporate phones are iPhones and I just couldn't stand it anymore. The real tipping point was how terrible iOS 11 was and still is. But I also really disliked that the iPhone has remained virtually identical since the 6 (with the exception of the X). And yet Apple still trots out the 8 like its some sort of game changer. If I wanted a boring looking phone I could've stuck with it. That design is getting long in the tooth.
Anyways, I now have an S8 that was purchased at a heavily discounted price now that the S9 has been revealed. I so missed having a separate app drawer where I could stow the lesser used apps without having to see them all the time. I missed the actual usable widgets. I missed being able to type by sliding across the keyboard instead of hitting every key separately.
I definitely don't miss Apple constantly telling me I need to 'Finish setting up my Apple ID' by adding a credit card to Apple Pay or by adding two factor authentication or whatever crap they always insisted I needed.
I also hated that Apple feels so proud for offering a phone with wireless charging or an edge-to-edge screen when Android manufacturers have been doing this for some time now. I hated that Apple ditched the headphone jack. I hated that Apple has never allowed for expandable storage or removable batteries.
I could continue on for a while but I guess I'll end the rant here.
The reason I switched: Apple's lack of innovation, the buggy iOS, the arrogance of the $1000 iPhone X and the Pixel 2 XL. I switched from the iPhone 7 to the Galaxy Note 8 at first. I was impressed by Samsung's hardware, but hated the bloatware and Samsung pushing Bixby on me. If I wanted a tech company pushing their glitchy software on me, I would have stuck with Apple or switched to (eek!) Amazon. I sent the Note 8 back and tried the Pixel 2 XL. Best phone, best os experience, best phone camera I've ever had! Not going back. For all of the cheap-shot headlines about the XL 2, I think Google has made the best phone I've ever used.
I also switched from the iPhone to Android. To be more precise, from iPhone 6s to Google Plxel 2. Customizability of Android and camera performance of Pixel 2 is the main reason behind this switch. So far I'm pretty happy with my decision.
I made the switch after the 4S. I just wanted a bigger device so I tried Android and never looked back. I don't have an issue with either OS but for me, I'll stay with Android. I just have to play with my spouses iPhone to reaffirm that.
My experience is a little different. I started on ios with iphone 3GS then went to Nexus 4,5,5x. Then i made i mistake by purchasing S7 edge which i traded for an iPhone 6S plus which i loved but the battery was faulty. Then i sold the iphone and wanted to buy ophone 7 plus but the phone was damaged in some areas so the seller gave me a choice. Galaxy S8 or the damaged iphone 7 plus, i took the S8 and now i'm stuck with Samsung again. I will use this phone for a year or two then i will buy a new iphone. Sory android but i'm leaving you.
Why didn't you just buy the phone elsewhere? Sounds like you NEVER were a fan of Android so the story is not relevant.
Obviously, i've used three generations of Nexus devices soo that makes me pretty qualified to judge android vs ios. As you get older you will se that customization gets less important to you. People want a quality, reliable and software supported phone. Don't get me wrong i think that galaxy s8 i great but the problem is android and its slow updates. My ipad mini 2 is still supported and works great. Android phones are obsolete almost immediately as they are sold. My S8 is still on nougat believe it or not. Next it's iPhone all the way baby... I'm not taking any chances this time.
Well for me I got tired of apple really really small changes and all the bells and whistles on android was their and. So when I made the big change it took a little getting use to so when I fully got the hang of it using android is and still the best thing I have ever done and I have the note 8 right now this is the best thing ever the look the feel is natural this system works better than my computer pretty much my all around use for everything. can't go back will not go back if Jobs was here He would switch to I want easy use and style with power note 8 on this system WRKS for me !
Recently I was using a note 5 and was watching tons of videos about the iPhone x . So on my birthday my wife surprised me and bought me the iPhone 10 . For a week I was telling everybody at work it was the best. A little bit of things ruined the iPhone for me . It's not the phone it self it's iOS. Let me explain I'm use to sharing photos on android with bluetooth. Ios won't let you no biggy. I used android to iOS app to get my apps on the iPhone . Come to find out not all my apps won't download because there over 150mb and you need wifi even if you have unlimited data it won't let you. 🤔 then when you download several apps on the app store it takes forever to download seriously 23 mb apps shouldn't take that long . So I get a update on the phone and I can't download it because I need to be on wifi I can't use my data smdh. I put my personal music that I made on the phone to use in a family video and The only music I can use is music I purchased from iTunes really. I'm on metro pcs so there's no discounts on phones my wife receipt was almost 1100 for the phone with taxes. I was at work so frustrated with the damn phone ranted on Facebook about it and just told my wife I understand it was a gift that I thought I wanted but it's not what I wanted the grass isn't greener on the other side . So she said what else you want I said a note 8 when we took it back I saw the s8 plus I thought was the note 8 and said I want this one the tmobile workerer told me it was the s8 plus and a few hundred bucks cheaper than the note 8 I was sold and couldn't be happier. Extra cash in my pocket and a gorgeous phone. I don't have wifi at home I use a app called pda net to turn my MacBook into a wifi hotspot to play my Xbox one online . Ios don't even have the app in store I have to jailbreak a new phone to use the app 👎 never going back unless android die. Ios feel so restricted I don't get what people like. I felt like I just got freedom when I came back to android . The little things on android your use to don't exist on iOS to restricted to the point I hate it
Switched from iphone to android, because android feels better, more options to change the look and feel of the software even if the device isn't rooted. Android gives users more freedom. My boss gave me an iphone 6s but I never used it: I love my rooted Samsung A3 2017 even if it's much cheaper than the 6s and has a mediocre camera.
I’ve used mostly iPhone but also android phones the last ten years. The last phone i switched from was iPhone 7. I was pretty pleased with the battery life, but bored with the 4.7 inch screen.Going for the plus version(giant) was not an option. The iphone X looks like a real winner, but who can afford it ? . Now i use a Nokia 8 and are very satisfied with it, except the camera could have been a bit better. I find it difficult to find the perfect android phone where everything match. Some have too much bloatware (sony), weird software (samsung) or poor battery life ( LG, sony,Huawei, believe me i’ve tried a lot). I did almost buy the LG G6, but reading all the tests on internet revealed poor battery life and slow upgrades. Most manufacturers don’t give a shit about security updates or the next software version. THAT’S a big different from Apple’s product line. For now i’m happy with my Nokia and have no plan going back to Apple.
I switched from iPhone to Android because I really dislike bloat wear. I got a Moto x pure with no bloat, I can customize the heck out of it; and for the price of one iPhone, I can buy 2-3 Android phones.
hello. My name is Gregory and I am originally from France and now working in Israel. : haven't made a real switch from system to another system but I am a Aliexpress buyer and lover, you know the feeling of waiting and having presents at christmas, this is a similar feeling I have when I find items to buy who are very accessible with the price and when they do arrive at the post or in the mailbox. I saw that 100$ mobile phone from VKWorld named Mix Plus. it is a nice 5.5 inch screen with Android 7 and a quad core with 3Gb of ROM. the brand is from Philippines and I was stucked by the besel less design around the screen, the design was so nice that I bought it. I use an iPhone 7 in my right hand for mostly everything, crypto coins trading, tweets, music and podcasts listening.
I was just amazed by the telephone quality, this terminal is fluid, muscled, doesn't ever say no to my requests, the screen is not what we call color respectful at all, colors are more vivid and the experience is like eating whites and blue and have them full in the body. to resume , the phone is incredible. at this price , just incredible. no slow, no errors, not restart. now here is my problem : having this really good and cheap in price experience, I connect myself on internet more than 4 hours per day, with this size and quality screen, this open and full of functions system, I love music and believe me or not, the audio output of this 100$ mobile is very good, I mostly use some Pioneer HDJ-1000 headphones and a new KZ earphones with dual drivers x2 and use Spotify and Apple Music mostly. my problem is that I am not using my iPhone anymore as I did before buying my VKworld. I feel like had spending money for the iPhone and really too much. because the Android terminals from Asian brands are now on the same levels as big brands in term of user experience. and to me spending a 700$ budget minimum to get an iOS terminal is just not normal compered to a VKWorld Mix plus rated at just 90$. I just can believe how incredible is working my android terminal and what possibilities and experiences I opened and discovered. iPhone is a good telephone and I still like his quality in the simplicity of using, as in Android Ialso find this simplicity of using but not the same level of quality in the UI design. But as I am using Android 7 now in my left hand, there is a real move forward, and my experience is really good and sometimes better that using my right hand iPhone 7. I am just amazed by the new phones and Android system . I wanted to share this with you. and if you have 100 bucks to spend for the fun, please just order this Mix plus phone from VKWorld, it is a velocity phone who does not weak itself, always ready to rwapk d, happy and fresh magical. a real hit to my eyes.
Yes. I used both Android and Apple Phone. Initially, I started with Android and was happy with the rooted phones and the way I could change the firmware. Switched over to Apple 6S as a friend of mine recommended. Yes, stable Apple was in terms of display and call clarity minus battery life. Unable to root (jailbreak), went back to Android. Happy with Huawei Mate 10 with much better battery life, performance and latest firmware (Android O). Price factor is very important in choosing phones. At the price of Apple X, I could buy two Android Phones with almost same features in terms of camera, memory, chipset, etc.
Made the switch many years ago and I'll never go back to Apple. In my opinion, Android is just a better phone
I switched from using an iPhone 6s to a Huawei P10 this year. iOS and Android are about equal in my opinion. Both operating systems have their advantages and disadvantages, but Apple's price and their battery performance were deal breakers.
