Moto X Pure Edition common problems and solutions
No device is immune to problems, be it a top-of-the-line or low-end model. Drawbacks usually start to appear after a certain amount of use and some are the result of a buggy system update. But don't worry, we are here to help. We have the solutions to common problems with the Moto X Pure Edition.
1. Moto X Pure Edition problem: Display error
This error has been around since April this year, when some units of the Moto X Pure Edition started to present a problem with the smartphone's screen. As you can see in the image below, the display of the Moto X Pure Edition shows a failure to close the capacitive buttons at the bottom of the device.
According to users, and even the manufacturer, this graphic fault emerged as a problem with the software and not hardware. So a system update should solve the issue. However, Motorola still has not released this update.
Solution (from the community)
According to Reddit readers, the problem can be solved, temporarily, by a hard reset. The photo above is a Moto X Pure Edition from one of the AndroidPIT team members however, according to him, a factory reset won't fix the issue.
If you are waiting for the release of a corrective update from Lenovo, you should know that the manufacturer does not have a date for this to happen. So you may have the screen that way until the arrival of Android 7.0 Nougat for the device.
2. Moto X Pure Edition problem: Noise and crackles in the top speaker
Some owners complain of noise and crackles in the top speaker in the Moto X Pure Edition international forum. According to the reports, you can hear some crackling and distortion in the audio while running games and audio books. The same goes for playing music and YouTube videos in landscape mode, where the audio is noticeably distorted when increased.
I contacted the Motorola Repair Center, the clerk informed me that the noise problems in the speaker or general sound distortion may occur because of the equalizer. To alleviate this problem, go to the Play Music Settings tap Equalizer and disable the 'audio effects'.
If the problem persists, you should seek to return the device under the terms of your warranty for repair or replacement. Contact Motorola support for further information about the guarantee.
3. Moto X Pure Edition problem: Stuck at 80 percent
There are complaints that the Moto X Pure Edition battery freezes at 80 percent. In some cases, the problem seems to be solved by pressing the power button for at least two and a half minutes. However, according to members of the US Motorola forum, it may be a battery indicator error that makes it freeze at this percentage.
It is possible that the device indicates a 75 percent charge, when in fact the actual capacity is 15 percent, for example. Although this is not a common problem, users who reported that issue were able to solve it by resetting the device and holding the volume button plus the power button simultaneously. If this problem persists, contact Motorola Technical Support.
4. Moto X Pure Edition problem: Google Now problems
Motorola's voice assistant is a version of Google Now, optimized with additional voice commands, such as customization of the activation phrase and new lines for consultation and implementation tasks. The service recognition software is optimized in the Moto X Pure Edition – as AndroidPIT mentioned in the device review – compared to the Moto X Play, for example.
However, ambient noise can disrupt the activation of Google Now.
Some readers are complaining about a certain delay in activating Google Now on the Moto X Pure Edition. This drawback is due to the presence of ambient noise while recording your voice during the initial setup. To solve this problem you need to rerecord your boot phrase in a quiet environment.

My Moto X Pure has battery problem It gets switched off anytime even at 80% of charging. What could be the reason ? Battery problem or software problem ? Please help !
only problem i have is the sd card disappearin from the moto x pure edition, i have to restart the phone everytime to get the sd card back. it's the same sd card that i got in the moto z force droid and no issues on it. 2 128GB SD Card from Best Buy
when the card is in there, shows how much i got left but when it disappears, only be Internal Storage
5 minutes after restart, the sd card disappeared again. now on to restart this damn bitch phone again
I don't have any of these problems but my home, back and multitasking buttons don't work when in portrait mode. Also only one landscape mode will work. I've tried factory reset already and no change.
Issue number 1 is nothing but a faulty display! My regards to Lenovo, but it aint a softare bug. It just happens from nothing on a 400 euro worth phone??? Never again Motorola Lenovo..
I haven't had any issues with my Moto X Pure until yesterday. I'm getting a similar issue as described in #1 above except my lower part of the screen is going white (over backlit?) It fluctuates by sometimes it's perfectly fine then other times will be almost white enough that I can't make out what is being displayed under it. And when it's doing this, the white display sort of pulsates in it's brightness (going brighter almost full white to almost but not quite back to normal)
I have this exact same issue.
I had a few screen issues like distorted screen but rebooting fixed it. Only prob now is that moto voice activates by itself, changing the phrase helped a bit.
Is there a way to fix this? It only happens when it's on full display widescreen. It goes for 5 seconds and then goes black for a second or two. Then keeps the cycle going.
The only problem I've noticed since getting my XT1575 is the update notification. Since rooting and flashing. The dang notification to update has been nagging me to update. Well I can't since I have custom recovery. So I've been unable to make it go away. Every time I change networks(wifi, data) it pops up. Any ideas guys? I'd just need a newer stock rom probably.
How about the fact that calls are unintelligible when Volte is turned on which is a recommended setting. It is the largest individual thread on the Lenovo moto x pure forum. It has been like that from day one. Their fix..... Wait for this......... Turn it off! I guess they don't care about customers getting the benefits of that feature. When you call them up not only will they not tell if it will be fixed with nougat, they won't even guarantee you that the phone will get nougat . Also two security updates since the phone came out. The latest one was 2 months old when it came out. Motorola is dead. They just haven't had the funeral yet. Last one I will ever buy. I have never seen a companie's reputation go down the tubes like this one. The moto x pure was their premier phone when it came out and their solution was "turn it off". Not, "we're working on a fix" or "we'll fix it in nougat" I want you to hear this one last time. Their solution was TURN IT OFF!
I just have the crackle issue, thankfully. All though it ONLY happens for a split second when rotating the screen to landscape mode.
Aside from that, this phone is a flagship killer for the price! ALSO includes support for an SD card slot!
*Glares at you OnePlus 3*
I've had a problem with Google Hangouts since the May 2016 security update that came OTA in July. I'll receive a notification of a new text. If I touch the notification to open the text, delete the text, then the notification automatically disappears. If I open Hangouts from the homescreen, delete the text, then the notification remains in the notification bar until manually swiped away. I wind up with multiple icons on the notification bar unless I manually swiped them away.
I have problem that I cant use anymore Ok Google. Reporting some issues with microphone and asking me to restart the phone. Done that but still nothing. Help please. Thank you.
Well what exactly is not working?
It's because you have a custom launch phrase set. Turn off the custom phrase, then your OK Google can utilize the microphone. Stupid, I know.
I have had lots of issues, random reboots that take an age to finish. Sometimes the screen goes blank when watching media but the sound still works. I also find the phone unusable on 3g and that playing games or watching media causes the phone to get extremely hot. I'm very disappointed overall having spent my hard earned cash to buy the phone outright.
My X just started doing the whole black screen when watching YouTube videos. It doesn't happen every time though.
I bought this phone in India on December 14th 2016 and for the first 4-5 months it worked perfectly fine but soon after the charging port became faulty. I could only charge the phone if I held the charging cable at a certain angle and bent the rest of the cable under the phone and kept the phone on a flat surface. It was manageable for a time but eventually the phone stopped charging altogether. I sent it for serving and the service centre guys said that there was water damage, as far as I know, the phone has never left my sight and the only water ever to come in contact was a few drops of rain falling on the screen. I had to pay 10% of the price of the phone to get it fixed and for two months it was back to working condition but for the past two weeks again it has been giving the same problem with charging.
Has this happened to anyone else as well?
I have noticed that when the phone is charging or when I play a graphics intensive game the phone heats up to around 47-50°C
It's possible that there was damage from humidity. One solution is to put the phone in rice. Here are some more: https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-fix-smartphone-dropped-in-water
Some times my capacitive buttons take time to work when pressed and the vibration feed back is so strong
