Poll results: Bixby may not be a flop after all!

Bixby may be a late bloomer, but don't count it out just yet. According to the results of our recent poll, things are looking up for Samsung's voice assistant, which was supposed to launch alongside the Samsung Galaxy S8 back in April. With the crucial voice features arriving three months late in the US, AndroidPIT readers have had about a month to give it a shot, and you'd be surprised at just how many users think it's not so bad after all.

Our poll results show that Bixby is not without its merits. The majority of users who have tried it out since June 19, in spite of its bad rep, say that it understands voice commands well and performs tasks efficiently. While about 60 percent of the around 300 respondents hold those favorable views, about a quarter of respondents weren't so positive. 23 percent say it's slow or doesn't function correctly, and 13 percent say it doesn't understand voice commands.

Those who weren't happy with Bixby were pretty vocal in the comments, referring to it as "pointless" and "rubbish". But, some were a bit more hopeful about its prospects. User Ron Josiah says he wouldn't want to remap the Bixby hardware button and that "Samsung is continually updating Bixby and making it better. This is only the first iteration of Bixby so it's playing catch-up to Google Assistant but I expect that to change in time." Given that Google Assistant, Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa have had a head start on Samsung, Bixby certainly has a long way to go, but these positive poll results bode well for its ability to catch up.

The only reason why I use bixby is because of Samsung rewards. It honestly just doesn't work that well.. it comes on randomly in the car while I listen to the radio and it takes 3 hello bixbys just to get it to work and saying hello bixby every time to open my phone it is dumb as fuck. It should of been (hey bixby) And I don't like the name either and for a $850 phone you should be able to do whatever the hell you want with that bixby button.. also that finger print reader should ve been on the power button

Honestly I am so confused at all the negative articles about bixby. I have been using it since the beta. I have never had a problem with it understanding me. At first it got a few commands wrong but has not since. I use it all the time and can say it is very useful and keeps getting better . Did they send out different versions ?because honestly I don't believe it could be the same program I have been using getting all the negative press unless they are written by apple lol

I don't like how bixby goes off at random and starts up without me even doing anything. Also most of the time bixby won't turn on. And it is very very slow. I did it again against siri and siri was way faster . If this is going to be in my phone id like it to work right.

Hopefully it will continue to improve over time. Slow speed is one of the main reasons I don't use voice assistants at all.

Readers of Androidpit and a self-selected poll are hardly representative of the phone community-at-large. This is basic statistics and a principle of numeracy. Androidpit writers should know better than to make an unsubstantiated clickbait title like that

The poll does not claim to represent the views of smartphone users as a whole. AndroidPIT readers are a tech savvy bunch, and their opinions matter. Rather than taking Samsung's marketing at its word about how useful Bixby is, we did this poll to find out directly from users who've tried it. It's not unsubstantiated.

    It can only get better.
