Vote: what platform has the best and worst emoji?
We recently learned that a single emoji can have different meanings depending on what device or platform you and the person you're communicating with are using. A lot of people overlook this because of the simple fact that they've never used an iPhone or Samsung device. Let's take a look at five major manufacturers and find out which have the best and worst emoji.
From Apple's attempts at realism – seemingly a lazy hangover from its more skeuomorphic days – to Google's hilariously oddball creations, the emoji we use vary widely in appearance, and thus interpretation, across different platforms.
Google's are almost certain to be taken more humorously, while HTC's maintain a pale, slightly tranquilized gaze that is unnerving in a deep and obscure way. Samsung's, on the other hand, have that glossy pride that hints at a simpler world but also feels more than a little tacky.
These are just my takes, of course, what I really want are your opinions. Spread your gaze over the table I've laboriously pieced together and vote on which platform you think has the best and the worst emoji.
The hats are in the ring, let's emojiwrestle.
How do they all make you feel? Let me know in the comments.
Samsung's is the worst, apple is the best -Samsung user
Samsung is the worst, especially the 8.5, it has the worst emojis and the worst qualities, I would rather take an apple that's the best.
great
yaa i havebeen cing this for a ling time https://www.androidpit.com
I like Samsung and Google been bored with apple emoji in whatsapp
samsung is best
I really like apple emoji
I'm just happy Apple's finally offering what some are calling "Politically Correct" emoji (different skin shades)...
The best emoji in the biz are Twitter's. Everyone else's is a mess.
Haha, I like Samsung, its very fun, beauty and strange
Haa.. pretty darn fascinating given there are dozens of designers, product managers, social scientists and others involved in creating these emojis.
I would not be surprised if emojis in the future were somewhat culturally localized, but then when I send, let's say that apple's happy pile of crap, from country A the recipient from country B sees it more fitting her or his cultural context (uhm not so happy pile of crap?).
=D
something a little offtopic, but i was always wondering, if you can use the well known apple emojis for your own (commercial) purpose? i see it all the time, but i doubt that companies like small t-shirt labels all have bought a license from apple. i wasnt able to google any licensing informations.
I prefer Samsung's, although Apple does have the happiest pile of shit. LG is second. Google's are just plain horrendous!
is Apple's smiley really a smile...
more of a halloween grimace, or the false smile of a fraudster as he rips you off with a 40% profit margin that he's not paying taxes on....
I think that Apple's are the best and Google are the absolute worst. Google emojis look like Sega Graphics. Stuff from 1991. By the way, I don't use an Apple phone, I use Samsung's Note.
Although I use Google /Android vanilla but SwiftKey shows emoji like Apple and I like it that way. It's neat n clean. Looks like real thing.
I think Apple's happy face looks like someone who has been constipated for a week trying to have a BM
