Google Nexus 4 — Problems with 5.01 on my Nexus 4

I just finished receiving the 5.0.1 update. Now when ever I press the power button to wake up the phone I have to swipe then enter the unlock pattern and then KILL THE PHONE APP before I get the "home screen". How do I restore as much of the old behavior as possible ie. Power button > unlock pattern > home screen.
