Pairing with Ford Sync 3

Question

We have two Moto X 1st gen paired with Ford Sync 3.  Both phones worked well and had the contacts and text messages show on the Ford screen.  One day one of the phones stated it did not have access to messages.  That phone was paired numerous times and a yes was entered when a message on the phone stated Sync wanted permission for messages and contacts.  Contacts were downloaded but not the text messages.  The other Moto x works fine.  I have checked all the settings I can think of and compared both phones.  Everything matches.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the Ford sync in my car also!
I know you said you checked all the settings you can think of! But did you check the permissions settings for your messaging app?
Go to apps them to settings then find your list of all apps in your phone.
Tap on the messaging app, check to see if all the permissions are granted.
If not then do so.
