no u can use color notes
its free and can sync with google account
if u want u can set a password

Best way for notes is Google Now just say OK google new reminder then say what note is and then say when you want reminded, if you want to type you can just say OK google new reminder then don't speak this will stop Google listening and leave you to type note I find it easy and handy as well as fast

Google Keep is better. Access across all devices because it is in your Google account, i.e. PC, phone, tablet etc.
