Someone was able to gain access to my ICloud and I’m worried that they managed to sync everything over.

Would they have access to all of my WhatsApp chats or would that not be possible?

Your WhatsApp messages are backed up to iCloud by default. But even if they have found the WhatsApp chat file, it will be encrypted, which is not easy to decrypt. Your WhatsApp chats could be accessed from only those devices that have signed in with your iCloud account.

Here are a few steps you should consider taking immediately:

  • Change your iCloud password and enable two-factor authentication
    (2FA) if you haven’t already.

  • Disable WhatsApp backups on iCloud to
    prevent future syncs.

  • Restore your WhatsApp using end-to-end
    encryption and backup only to a local device instead of iCloud if

If someone accessed your iCloud and synced your data, they could potentially see your WhatsApp chats if they were backed up there. It’s important to secure your account immediately and change your password.
