You just want to write a quick message, but WhatsApp Web no longer works? We have summarized solutions for the most common problems associated with WhatsApp Web below. It doesn't matter whether you use the web-based app on a browser or a tablet, as these solutions work on both platforms.
Did you know you can use the extremely popular instant messenger, WhatsApp, in a browser? To do so, you head to WhatsApp Web, which connects your notebook or tablet (Best Of list) to your smartphone via the internet. In theory, this works very well, but in reality, there are times when WhatsApp Web simply refuses to work.

This article deals with the above problems. Of course, we'll begin with the basic setup of WhatsApp Web so you can see if you've done everything right.
Requirements: What do I need for WhatsApp Web?
- First of all, you need a compatible browser. These include Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Opera, and Safari.
- Alternatively, you can also download the Windows or Mac app for WhatsApp Web.
- Both your smartphone and computer must be connected to the internet. A WLAN connection is recommended for smartphones.
- If you want to use WhatsApp Web on your tablet, you can do that too! You can find detailed information for iPadOS and Android in the linked instructions.
How to set up WhatsApp Web
To use WhatsApp Web, you need to synchronize your smartphone and your computer by performing the following:
- Go to the website web.whatsapp.com in the Chrome browser.
- Launch WhatsApp on your smartphone.
- Open the menu via the three dots (Android) or go to Settings (iPhone).
- Click on the QR code next to your profile picture.
- Use your smartphone to scan the QR code that is displayed on the website.
To use WhatsApp in another browser or on another device, go to the WhatsApp Web menu again and tap on the plus symbol in the top-right corner. If you want to log out again, tap on the corresponding device in the WhatsApp Web menu and select Log out.
No QR code is displayed in WhatsApp Web
The first hurdle when setting up oftentimes happens when scanning the QR code. This is only valid for a certain period before it times out and therefore, no QR code might be displayed when you launch WhatsApp Web. If you encounter this problem, you can generate a new code with a single mouse click.
If you do not see the required button, simply reload the page if you are on a browser. You should then be able to see a new QR code. If it still doesn't work, try the entire process in incognito mode. This is because an ad blocker or other extension for your browser may be blocking the QR code.
Scanning the QR code does not work
Another mistake is, of course, scanning the QR code using your smartphone. First, make sure that the entire code is visible in your smartphone's viewfinder. If you don't see a preview image in the WhatsApp app, you should check the permission settings for your camera.
Do you see the QR code, but it is simply not being read? If so, tap the screen once to engage the autofocus. It may also help to enlarge the QR code using your browser's zoom function. To complete this, hold down the “Ctrl” key and press the plus button simultaneously. Alternatively, you can also scroll up with the mouse's scroll button while holding down the “Ctrl” key.
Receiving and sending messages/pictures/videos does not work
Unlike many WhatsApp alternatives, Facebook's web solution is only a remote version of the actual app. Messages you enter on the PC are sent to your smartphone followed by Facebook's servers. This has a clear disadvantage since your smartphone must have a permanent connection to the Internet and, of course, remain switched on.
WhatsApp outage?
Maybe the problem is not on your end! To find out, you should google the term “WhatsApp outage” and see what sites like Downdetector have to say about the matter. These services constantly check the availability of servers and display disruptions fairly fast.
Alternatively, you can simply write a quick message on your smartphone and send it to someone. If only a single gray tick appears, the connection is currently down. It is best to try again later.
Check the connection on your smartphone
First, check whether your smartphone is connected to the Internet. From there, you should check whether a pending update could be preventing the connection. If necessary, update WhatsApp and turn the internet connection completely off and on again if there are further issues.
Check the connection on your computer
Of course, your notebook, tablet, or PC must also be connected to the internet. The easiest way to find out quickly is to reload the page. To do this, press the “F5” key or press “Ctrl + R” or “Cmd + R” on macOS. If WhatsApp Web cannot be refreshed, chances are your connection is disrupted.
If WhatsApp Web is refreshed, you can also reconnect to the web app once. To do this, you can log out using the three dots at the top right of the screen and log in again.
Desktop notifications in WhatsApp Web do not work
You can be notified on your computer via WhatsApp Web when WhatsApp messages arrive. This also works when WhatsApp Web is running in the background. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Tap Notify me of new messages when you use WhatsApp Web for the first time.
- Confirm the question from the browser regarding desktop notifications.
Close the tab with WhatsApp Web, or the entire browser if you wish. The notification service will now continue to run in the background.
Disable notifications from WhatsApp Web
If you want to change the notifications settings, open the WhatsApp Web menu (three dots) and select Settings followed by Notifications. You can decide whether incoming messages…
- … should play a notification sound;
- … will synchronize content in the background; or
- … will not show up by deactivating desktop notifications.
You can also mute all notifications for an hour, a day, or a week.
Send pictures, videos, and more with WhatsApp Web
You can send files from your computer with WhatsApp Web. The limit is 16 MB for photos and 100 MB for other file types. This operation is based on the client for smartphones:
- Select the paperclip icon in the top-right corner.
- Determine whether you want to send a photo, video, webcam image, document, or contact.
- Pick the appropriate file.
- Add a caption if you wish, and tap the arrow to send.
Alternatively, you can simply drag and drop the files (also in groups) from your file manager (Explorer/Finder) into the window and onto the person in the contact list to whom you want to send to.
Downloading pictures and more from WhatsApp Web to your PC
Downloading images, videos and other files to your PC is also effortless. To download a single image or video, move the mouse pointer over the image and open the menu via the small arrow that appears in the top-right corner. From there, simply tap Download. Alternatively, click on the image to enlarge it and then select the download symbol in the top-right corner.
If you want to download several pictures from a chat to your computer via WhatsApp Web, select (Contact / Group) Info in the three-dot menu at the top right and then Media, Links, and Documents. Select the first image, hold Shift down and select the last image or video. If you then tap the download arrow at the top right, all media in between will be downloaded to the directory of your choice.

I talked to Samsung tech support, 800-726-7864, after long investigation, using S,art Tutor, they came up with suggestion that this is a bug in Samsung latest Android release.
I doubt it.
BTW I found that Samsung tech support is pretty good.

I have whatsapp business my catalog stopped working and I can't add at all. I select catalog option and then gets a error on screen stating "Item can't be displayed please try again later" and it's got like a glitch like if it's scrolling but no content visible and it's glitching with speed.
I have actually trying to view the catalog from my personal number and I can see last items that was added but that was a few months back so for 7 months I can't view, edit or add anything to my catalog. New clients can't see what's their to offer and must now join to stay updated. The comfort behind the catalog was amazing because I work until late to prepare marketing posts and then I normally load them on the catalog and tomorrow morning when clients open whatsapp they get a updated store every day. And adding to inventory was also awesome.
Now I am loosing clients loosing income and I can't spend quality time with having actually a client relations refer to interactions with my old clients, new clients or regular clients. It's happening with many people this is due to network issues or software bug as clone app does not get full access..
Solution to this is you can deactivate the account and reinstall the app and then use it again or you can clear cache that might also help you..

I’ve gone from an IPhone XR to a 12 mini. I used to be able to download images sent to me whilst on a WhatsApp audio call but since I’ve changed phones I’m not able to. Hi. I have run into a WhatsApp voice call problem on my Galaxy S6 that I have narrowed down to a problem with the proximity sensor. If this is covered (e.g phone in its cover) an incoming call will ring for about a second then stop. It seems that the call screen tries to display but the proximity sensor prevents it until the phone is opened up and unlocked. How do I get round this please as the s6 proximity sensor cannot be disabled.
I installed Whatsapp on my Samsung S10e and transferred my messages using dr.fone from my iphone. It worked fine for more than 24 hours and then stopped working all in sudden. Whatsapp can't connect to internet anymore but all other apps on my phone are connected via WIFI or data. Even Whatsapp web can't connect to my phone. I don't see anything in the app settings or another app that can stop the connection of whatsapp to internet! And I have not made any changes to my phone or apps when it stopped working this morning.

I have a database of jpg images uploaded in my Google Drive account. Here Image size and format is fixed, only content will change as per database information in all the images.
Further I am using bitly to shorten URL of my Google Drive stored JPG image for sharing in my WhatsApp Group. In this process I have the following problems.
1. URL preview alignment (top/center/bottom justified) will keep changing in WhatsApp. Left/center/right justification is fine. It will be always center justified. How to fix the alignment as top justified only.

I have followed the CONTACT SUPPORT route that follows, 21 times, ie 21 emails to Whatsapp. They responded twice to say "Read our FAQ, and it doesn't help, reply to this email". However, just these same 2 replies within the 2 weeks that Ive been locked out.
It seems that Whatsapp do not offer actual support, just send this standard reply.

Do you mean once I sign up for Whatsapp using my phone number? I have been using Whatsapp for a long time now and mostly it works fine. Occassionally I will meet someone new (outside of Whats app) and I will give them my phone number and then they cannot contact me with Whatsapp. But once I go in and add them to my contacts then they can contact me. Do they have to be in my contacts to be able to text or call me on What's app? Or do I have a setting set that makes that so?

I have to admit, I haven't really heard from that issue. Anyone who has your number should actually be able to send you messages. They don't need to be in your contacts.
How exactly are they not able to text you using WhatsApp? Do you just not show up in WhatsApp after they saved your number? Or are they blocked from sending you a message?

It used to work.

I am more from India, Recently from last 2 -3 days I am facing problem in sending video to my contacts in whatapp, when ever i send video the video of video become automatic fast , example I have take 60 Sec Video from my camera Phone and no when i upload it to my whatapp contact it automatly become 30 sec with fast forward, my contact can see full leanth video but in fast forward mode. The same problem is coming in old video which i have sent properly 2-3 before.

I wondered if someone could help I have tried contacting Whatapp customer support and they only send automated emails. I have verified my number too many times and now it says I have to contact support.... which I have tried doing but they are not responding. Do you know how I can verify my number again? There isnt even a count down time it wont even let me try and verify.

WEIRD problem with Whatsapp: voice notes, randomly, shows the right duration but are cut (example: clip length shown 3:00, actual clip 1:23)

whatsapp wasn't recognizing my contacts after i updated to the latest version so i uninstalled it and reinstall it again but now after I check my phone number and my profile name it starts to load and it keeps like that for a long time until the app stops.
i've tried several times but it doesnt work
please if any of you can help me I would appreciate it
Links included in Whatsapp messages are not clickeable (Ex: youtube link). But if I send a youtube link, it works fine. I have an S5 mini.

hi, when i try to open WhatsApp i get this message "unfortunately whatsapp has stopped". i can see messages come in but cant open to read them. could you please help me solve this problem?
your current version of watts app is no longer compatible now ... so first make backup of your complete wattsapp by copy wattsapp folder to sd card and delete folder from internal than uninstall the app and install the latest app from store than copy back to internal ... that's it open app and it automatically backup your data ... in working condition !! if problem solved like follow ask again bye Thanks!!

On my whatsapp messenger, it keeps notifying me that I have unread messages even if all messages have been read. In the past when this happens, I uninstall the app and reinstall to fix it, but now, it doesn't work anymore. Is some hacker doing some phishing on my device or something? Hi, I had the same problem.
Go to Settings, Application Manager, All. Look for BadgeProvider, Clear Cache and Clear Data.
This fixed it for me on Samsung S4.
You may need to restart phone.

My samsung S3 phone has the message "Unfortunately, the process whataap has stopped" displayed everytime it connects to wifi or mobile data network and after that the phone hangs for exactly a minute.
